The Heart Behind the Story

Brianna Tavada is an Emmy-winning Journalist and Brand Narrative Strategist whose work centers on understanding people — what they care about, how they communicate, and what helps them feel seen and connected.
Brianna has built her career around translating complexity into clarity.
Her Emmy-winning series “Too Dark To Be Latino” sparked national conversations about identity, race, and belonging — demonstrating her ability to surface underrepresented perspectives, recognize culturally relevant themes, and craft narratives that resonate across local, national, and global audiences.
Today, Brianna is expanding that same expertise into brand narrative strategy — helping organizations understand their audiences, clarify what they stand for, and communicate their stories in ways that build trust and connection. As she has evolved from journalist to strategist, she has intentionally strengthened her understanding of brand, audience, and digital strategy through experiences with organizations including Goldman Sachs and Meta. These experiences have given her additional frameworks and tools for thinking beyond the story itself — considering how a brand positions itself, how audiences experience it, and how narrative can support broader business and communication goals.
Her range as a communicator is shaped by the diversity of the places she has lived and worked. Born and raised in New York, where she began her career in national news before making a bold move to Erie, Pennsylvania — a small, close-knit market with a completely different pace, culture, and audience makeup than the city she grew up in. In Erie, Brianna served not only as an anchor and reporter but as a true newsroom leader, often guiding coverage, shaping editorial decisions, and helping set the tone for how stories were told. Her reporting there included conversations with national figures such as Martin Luther King III, as well as interviews with the Mayor of Erie and other community leaders. Working in a market where resources were lean and roles were fluid, taught her how to lead with clarity, adapt quickly, and connect with audiences across generational, cultural, and geographic lines.
Brianna later brought that versatility to Jacksonville, Florida, where she covered some of the most consequential stories — from national investigations and breaking news to public safety crises and social issues. Her reporting included interviews with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the Mayor of Jacksonville, Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump, and a range of celebrities, cultural figures, and public leaders. Her coverage of major events — including the Dollar General mass shooting — strengthened her ability to navigate sensitive topics, earn trust quickly, and communicate with clarity in high-stakes moments.
Her experience spans television, digital, social media, and brand communications, where she blends audience insight, communication strategy, and storytelling to inform, engage, and connect with broad and diverse communities. She has also worked directly with creators and brands to strengthen their social presence and storytelling, bringing a journalist’s instinct for relevance and audience understanding to the digital space.
